“The Lord your God is in your midst, a warrior who gives victory; he will rejoice over you with gladness, he will renew you in his love; he will exult over you with loud singing” Zephaniah 3:17
And yes, the Eucharist, a foretaste of a feast! During the Eucharist I am often reflecting on a favorite song and Psalm:
Back in the early 80s I heard a song by John Michael Talbot, Our Blessing Cup, the lyrics were a blending of 1 Corinthians 10:16: “The cup of blessing which we bless, is it not a participation in the blood of Christ?” and Psalm 116:12,13: “What shall I render to the Lord for all his bounty to me? I will take lift up the cup of salvation and call on the name of the Lord.”
Lyrics
“Our blessing cup, is a communion with the blood of the lamb, our blessing cup is a communion with the blood of the lamb.
What return, shall I make to the Lord, for all the good he has done for me, I will take the cup of salvation, I will call upon the name of the Lord.”
I subsequently learned that Jesus and the disciples would have recited or sung Psalm 113-118 during and after the Passover meal as Jesus instituted the Eucharist.
So during holy communion, I am reflecting on all we have been given in Christ, the bread of life. As he said in John 6: “This is the bread which came down from heaven…he who eats this bread will live forever.” John 6:58.
Thank you, Ben. I really need to read these hope filled words this morning. Glad I saved it for this today. I'm thankful for you and your work.

Such a hopeful word to hear. Thank you!
